Biochemistry I (Cliffs Quick Review)
Published in Paperback by Cliffs Notes (September, 2000)
Average review score:

Great intro bookWhen I wanted to start reading Lenninger Priciple's of Biochemistry it felt like a bucket of cold water... there were many things that I could not understand; hence, I went for something simple and concise, something that gives me enough background (in a short amount of time) info to somehow figure out what Lenninger tried to explain. For that purpose, this book is very good. Do not expect to be a master biochemist after you read this book, this is just an INTRODUCTION and OUTLINE of the main ideas... only the concepts that are used most often appear! Although obvious, the bad part of the download version is that you have to be attached to a computer =(
Great OverviewWhen I wanted to start reading Lenninger Priciple's of Biochemistry it felt like a bucket of cold water... there were many things that I could not understand; hence, I went for something simple and concise, something that gives me enough background (in a short amount of time) info to somehow figure out what Lenninger tried to explain. For that purpose, this book is very good. In fact, I am reading it again in some chemistry class that I have because the class is boring. However, do not expect to be a master biochemist after you read this book, this is just an INTRODUCTION and OUTLINE of the main ideas... only the concepts that are used most often appear! Another feature that I like is that it is pocket size, meaning that I can carry it around easily!

Black Like Me (Cliffs Notes)
Published in Paperback by Cliffs Notes (January, 1983)
Average review score:

DON'T HATE ON THE 5 STAR BOOKThis book was the best book that I have ever read. It would open up the hearts of all the white people who don't like black people. This man put his life on the line. He turned his self black knowing about all of the evil things that can happen to him while he was traveling through the deep South. I know ain't no white person would wanna turn themselves black just to see what it would be like. I am glad that I picked up this book. This book made tears come to my eyes. It should be in the school librarys ....
K.D THOUGHT OF A GREAT BOOKI REALY LIKE THIS BOOK. IT WAS BASED ON A MAN WHO WANTED TO KNOW WHAT RACISM WAS LIKE. AND HE WAS FACED WITH THE DESISSION OF BECOMING A BLACK MAN. AFTER HE CAM E TO A CONCIOUS DISCION ABOUT IT, HE DARKENED HIS SKIN AND MOVED TO AT THAT TIME A VERY SEGRAGATED PLACE. HE FACED LITTLE DISRIMANTION AND WAS ABLE TO COME OUT OF IT, WITH A FEW IDENTITY CHANGES.

Cliffs Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition Examination Preparation Guide
Published in Paperback by Cliffs Notes (September, 1993)
Average review score:

A great book for preparing for the AP examThis is a truly wonderful book, and I'm glad our english teacher Ms. Kasper recommended it to us.
Excellent preparation for anyone planning to take the examThis book is intelligently and efficiently written and doesn't talk down to its readers. I like the matter-of-fact way in which the author defines terms and gives suggestions. The sample questions and passages were extremely helpful. One of the particularly valuable things about the book was the analysis of good and poor essay answers. It helped me understand what AP exam readers are looking for. According to the back cover of the book, the author himself has been involved in writing and scoring the AP English Lit exam for many years. That in itself is a powerful reason for using this book.

Cliffs AP English Language and Composition
Published in Paperback by Cliffs Notes (December, 2000)
Average review score:

Excellent Source of StudyThis book really helped me last year to get a 5 on the AP exam. The review is comprehensive, pertinent, and detailed. The practice exams are terrific - they mirror the AP exam very closely. This book gives good information and tips on the multiple choice and essay sections - the explanations and problem explanations really help you reach a new level of understanding. I highly recommend this book - it is very valuable!
Best Book for AP English Language and CompositionThis book was a requirement for my AP Class last year. Throughout the year, my class worked with the book as our main tool for studying for the AP Exam. Although the sample tests are not EXACTLY like the real test, they are the closest questions in terms of type and difficulty than any other review book out there, including Barrons and the like. I highly recommend this book if you are taking the AP Eng. Lang & Comp test. Purchasing other review books in addition to this would be helpful, but purchasing any other review book INSTEAD of this one is a mistake.

CliffsNotes The Odyssey
Published in Digital by Hungry Minds ()
Average review score:

TURNED "ROCKET SCIENCE" to Reading EaseHomer's The Odyessey is a drudgery to read not to mention understand. This book took the pain and bordom of that and shortned it to a 1 hour (45 if your a fast reader) book that keeps all the details (for your reading pleasure) and explains the importance of each section in relations to High School which actually helps a ton. (pulled my grade on this from the usual B to A thanks to this book).
CliffnotesThis is a great way to help you better understand the book. While it does not take the place of the book it is a really good learning tool,

Dreamers of the Valley of Plenty: A Portrait of the Napa Valley
Published in Hardcover by Scribner (May, 1995)
Average review score:

Dreamers of the Valley: etc...I have not yet finished the book, but the rating stars can only increase. We returned from Napa Valley after a three trip and it was interesting to find the places spoken of in the book. Barron writes in a startlingly brutal fashion and probably hasn't been in contact with many of her subject acquaintances. This a beautifully written book, by an artist of our language;not written for the common denominator. I'm awaitng for her next book on any subject.
Delightful, evocative reading. This evocative portrayal of Napa Valley reminded me of the writings of Peter Mayle. It represents the place through people -- through portraits, (sometimes acerbic) of the owners of some of the area's famous wineries. It's worth the read just for the lyrical writing and the marvellous sense of place. I hated reaching the end of it.

Firefighter Exams (Barron's Firefighter Exams, 4th Ed)
Published in Paperback by Barrons Educational Series (June, 2000)
Average review score:

AwesomeI would give this book 6 stars if I could. This is the best resource for helping prospective firefighters pass the written test.
The written test used to strike fear into my bones. I began using Barron's book and found myself understanding the content more. This book covers every aspect of the written test in great depth. I used this book with two others and found this to be superior, by far. There are 7 sample tests included in this book and they are all very helpful. The book also walks the reader through the form of the written test and how to prepare for it. I strongly recommend using this book with at least one other. That way you can get the most of the sample tests that each of these books offer.
After using this book I scored 85% on my first written exam.
TFS, best fire dept in the world.
Excellent Study GuideThis is an excellent selection for an aspiring firefighter. The book gives sample tests to test your skills and also will improve your skills in idle areas. My favorite part of the book is the sample test because after taking and grading the test I would know where I stand. And anything I had trouble on I could study up on. It also provides great information on the physical exam and essential guidlines for the content of the physical exam. It will let you train for the specific area's and concentrate on certain criteria. Overall this is an excellent book that will make your chances of becoming a paid firefighter greater.

Flavors of Greece
Published in Hardcover by Interlink Publishing Group (October, 2003)
Average review score:

A comprehensive and readible guide to Greek cuisine. After recently spending 2 months in Greece and thoroughly enjoying the Greek cuisine, I was delighted to find this comprehensive yet readible guide. The author shares insight into the essentials for setting up a Greek kitchen and preparing the recipes in the traditional way along with modern preparation tips. I loved her way of sharing the fellowship and joy of the Greek dining experience. Flavors of Greece made me homesick!
Great Greek recipesI have visited Greece many times, and have wanted a cookbook that had recipes for the delicious food I have eaten there that would allow me to prepare this great cuisine at home. This is the first cookbook that has met my needs. The recipe for pork souvlaki is outstanding, and I have never had a dish turn out less than wonderful from this book. It needs to be reprinted!!
